The Municipality of Preveza has an area of 66,8 square km and almost 32.000 population. Preveza is a part of Epirus Region. The geographical position of the city (from the ancient times) was crucial, that’s why it attracted many conquerors.
Preveza is a historical land. You can visit here the Ancient Nicopolis, the city which was found by the Roman Emperor Octavian Augustus, after his win against of Cleopatra and Mark Anthony, at 31 b.C.
Later, the Ottomans and the Venetians occupied the city many times. Nowadays, Preveza has its own character thanks to this multicultural history. You can experience this in every corner of the historic city center.
Preveza is a modern city, with very interesting nightlife, restaurants and taverns. The city has also very famous culinary heritage. You can taste daily fresh seafood or the traditional local Gastronomy (especially the pies!). All these reasons, make Preveza ideal and unique place for vacation.
Pantokratoras is located 2 km from Preveza. It is the second settlement that one encounters after the city towards the Ionian Sea. It is 400 meters from the submarine tunnel Preveza-Aktiou while the island of Lefkada is very close.
It was founded by Greek families in Asia Minor and the settlement continues by the descendants of the refugees until today. At the same time, the area is a place of new residents as it combines direct access to major cities, family environment and incomparable beauty. It is a tourist destination for those who want a quiet vacation and those who are interested in water activities. Finally at the Pantokratoras visitors can enjoy an idyllic sunset, perhaps the best in the area.
The Castle of Pantokratoras is one of the “must visit” places in Preveza. Of course it is near to our villas! The history of the Castle is an important pillar of the history of Preveza. This is one of the 3 castles that the Ottoman local governor Ali Pasha built, after the occupation of the city at 1807. Its first name was Outz Kale, but in nowadays the Castle has its name by the Christian Church of Pantokratoras, which is inside.
